About this position:
Under the supervision and direction of the Health Center Manager, provides support to patients and co-workers by performing, with accuracy and timeliness, a variety of clinical and administrative tasks in different areas of the health center.
This is a full-time position with a Monday – Friday work schedule, with varied work time between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. depending on the day. A typical work week may be:
Mon 7:30-3:30pm
Tues 11:00-7:00pm
Wed 10:00-6:00pm
Thur 8:00-4:00pm
Fri 7:30-3:30pm

Two days a week, Telehealth tasks will be performed from the Health Center location.

Pay scale for this position ranges from $17-23.95 depending on experiences.

What you’ll be doing:
Responds to patient requests and coordinates services. Answers questions, provides patient education and referrals. Provides excellent customer service to patients and co-workers. Ensures exam rooms are prepared. Assists with keeping appointments on time and optimizing the flow. Performs all front and back office responsibilities as required by the health center
Assists patients by responding to requests and coordinating services from appropriate personnel or departments as needed.
Establishes and prepares documents for patient records and patient services; completes patient insurance information and enters visit data into PPGNHAIK systems.
Provides non-judgmental, client-centered care, and provides accurate information by answering questions and providing appropriate resources.
Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of birth control methods and reproductive health services to provide patient education. Provides Planned Parenthood Patient Education Sheets, (PES) and Informed Consent Forms, (ICF) Client and offers Planned Parenthood services or community resources for identified patient needs.
Provides patients and co-workers with excellent customer service in all interactions and tasks. Utilizes service recovery when appropriate and seeks assistance from co-workers or the health center manager to ensure resolution.
Completes all functions of patient check-in including income screening, explanation of funding, and payment options. Explains the different types of coverage or funding available to the patient and refers patients for assistance with health care insurance sign up when appropriate.
Optimizes patient satisfaction and efficient use of provider time by providing patient education appropriate to each type of visit; ensures that exam rooms are adequately stocked and prepared prior to visit.
Keeps appointments on schedule through ongoing communication with the PCTL, the clinician and the health center manager.
Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
Records and collects patient payments and solicits donations. Follows organizational guidelines to improve collections and minimize uncompensated care.
Acts as a resource for other staff members, supports and participates in ongoing learning and development of the staff team in the health center.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by adhering to and complying with infection and exposure control procedures; OSHA, WISHA, CLIA, PPFA, and PPGNHAIK policies and procedures.
Maintains HIPAA compliance standards regarding patient privacy and confidentiality, and follows all other compliance requirements.
Maintains health center operations by following policies and procedures; reports needed changes.
Identifies and assists in resolution of health center flow issues.
Participates in agency research projects as needed.
Performs all back office and front office responsibilities as required by the health center.
Participates in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity
Responsible for completing training, current certification and competencies as assigned.
Maintains job knowledge by attending meetings and trainings as required.

Front Office Responsibilities:
Opens and closes the front office independently
Ensures all forms and materials are stocked and ready for patient contacts
Performs tasks in the front office including, but not limited to, checking patients in and out; selling supplies; answering phones; quoting fees; ordering and maintaining supplies; and a variety of clerical tasks including running reports and collecting necessary data
Participates in the revenue cycle by maintaining patient accounts;
Complies with agency cash-handling procedures and completes accurate daily reconciliation of monies before posting a batch
Provides patient care in accordance with the needs of the health center as determined by the manager,
Participates and completes new and required trainings in a timely manner and maintains current status on certifications and competencies as assigned

Back Office Responsibilities:
Opens and closes back office independently
Ensures back office and exam rooms are cleaned, stocked, and consistently prepared for patient visits
Collects and accurately charts information pertaining to patient visits including vitals, in office lab tests and procedures, and information received from patients
Performs tasks in the back office including, but not limited to; preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, performing trans-vaginal and abdominal ultrasounds, assisting the clinician, performing lab tests, ordering and maintaining supplies, maintaining logs and manuals, and a variety of tasks which require demonstrating a knowledge of universal precautions, sterile technique and hazardous waste disposal
Performs all lab tests, collection and packaging of lab specimens in compliance with agency, lab, and state policy and procedure
Serves as an assistant and support person to licensed staff members during procedures including abortion (surgical and medication abortions), vasectomy, colposcopy, LEEP, HTS, and other procedures performed by PPGNHAIK. May be responsible for the preparation of POC for physician review and be responsible for its disposal per agency and state guidelines
Participates in providing informed consent for a variety of services in compliance with ethical and legal standards of informed consent; ensures that all required documentation of that process is thorough and complete
Coordinates referrals for patients who must go outside of PPGNHAIK to obtain necessary care
Participates and completes new and required trainings in a timely manner and maintains current status on certifications and competencies as assigned

You’ll need to have:
High school diploma or equivalent
One to two years’ experience in a medical setting preferred but not required. (Training available)
Department of Health Medical Assistant- Certified (CM) in WA State or Medical Assistant – Phlebotomy (PC) in WA State may be required at some sites; National Certified MA is preferable but no required. MA certification may be required at some AK, ID, HI sites.
Proof of current COVID-19 Vaccine and proof of recent Influenza Vaccine are required for employment with PPGNHAIK.
