Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Nursing Director (BHND) is part of the Behavioral Health Leadership Team which consists of the Chief Behavioral Health Officer (CBHO), Medical Director of Behavioral Health (MDBH), Behavioral Health Clinical Director (BHCD), and the Behavioral Health Operations Director (BHOD). Under general direction of the CBHO and in conjunction with the MDBH, the Nursing Director is responsible for the programmatic direction of the Bartlett Behavioral Health and Addiction Medicine System of Care for all clinical behavioral health related nursing services delivered at Bartlett Regional Hospital and in the community, including but not limited to, the Mental Health Unit (MHU), Rainforest Recovery Center Residential (RRC), Rainforest Recovery Center Withdrawal Management Unit (WMU), Bartlett Outpatient Psychiatric Services (BOPS), Crisis Intervention Services (CIS), and the Applied Behavioral Analysis Clinic (ABA).

Primary Functions Include:

  • Direct clinical oversight of all Nursing staff within the Behavioral Health System of Care, including RNs and CNAs.
  • Direct supervision of the Nurse Managers at RRC and MHU.
  • Direct supervision of the BHA Supervisors at RRC and MHU.
  • Collaborates and fosters a strong partnership with all BRH Medical Staff including Behavioral Health Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners; Juneau Emergency Medical Associates; BRH Hospitalists and primary care physicians to ensure patient satisfaction and high quality behavioral health care.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

  • Education: Bachelors in Nursing, MSN preferred.

  • Experience: Five years of nursing experience and a minimum of three (3) years of program management experience, preferably in behavioral health or a related field. This experience must have included monitoring and supervision of staff and program and policy development. Note: The three years of program management experience can be included in three of the five years of nursing experience.

  • License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse

  • Certification(s): BLS for Healthcare Provider and TEAM/BERT Training within 90 days of hire.
